Cherub 2 went to Orange Beach, Alabama, for 3 days with some family friends, returning on New Year's Eve (evening). She had a wonderful trip. She and her friend Miss K (who has been a dear friend of Cherub 2 since age 3yo) spent their time collecting seashells, watching the birds, checking out baby jellyfish, walking the beach, playing in the Gulf and playing in the indoor pool at the hotel.

While she was gone, her dear little sister (Cherub 5) and I worked hard .... after nearly 2 years of "dark blue walls with an antique car border" in their room, we painted and reorganized and "girly'ed up" their room as a surprise. We put up shelves to hold all of their keepsake dolls and knick-knacks ... and we finally hung all of their wall decorations that were "waiting" for their room to be finished. (hats, pictures, and more)

We finally put their beds together with the new floral bedding they had gotten for Christmas ... a cream background with bright pink and lavendar roses on it. We hung new curtains and valances too.

The room turned out lovely ! It is a bit BRIGHT for my personal taste, but since it is not "my" room, it really does not matter. The girls picked the paint colors ... and the room really does represent both of them (one bright pink girl, and one purple girl).
*Cherub 5 and I hid in the girls bedroom when Cherub 2 came home. She came to find us ... and we "caught" the moment of surprise, when she discovered her VERY girly room.

It is so funny -- both girls keep coming to me saying THANK YOU, THANK YOU, thanking the boys for pitching in aorund the house while I painted, and thanking DadToCherubs for supplying the materials (and furniture moving labor) for their new room. It's so sweet .... they are very excited and pleased with their new GIRLY bedroom.
