Isn't this Periwinkle ? Our birdhouse gourds from last summer are almost dry enough to "finish".
Our roses have brand new leaves.
Our daffodills are ready to fully open.
And the lilac is covered with these buds.

Spring is coming ... finally !

HI, was going to email you a photo of my hen in the milk crate, but can't find an email on this website or on the garden yahoo group. My homeschooling days are all done with now--I see you are in the thick of it! We didn't get a math tutor like we should have years ago (husband couldn't afford it), so at the community college the kids have to work their way up to the math they need. Takes away time from going forward. Elizabeth
I enjoyed a tour of your yard this morning. I have been meaning to get out and chronicle our yard this week as well.
The purple flower is periwinkle or we call it vinca where we live for some reason. I noticed it is blooming all around our neighborhood. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vinca
I think you can call that top one periwinkle, but I call it vinca, too. I planted some last year & thought it all died, but was happy to see a few tiny blooms already. :-)
I would love to make birdhouse gourds with my boys. Do you have instructions somewhere on your blog? If not, that would make a great post, hint, hint ;-)
