The Gift

We have been anxiously watching some slender green leaves get taller and taller in our flower beds for the last few weeks ... and then, a week ago or so, we saw the buds but they were still closed tightly. We have all been waiting for the first bloom of the season ... the lovely daffodills.

Cherub 5 went to get the mail early this morning during school .... and as she walked she saw something yellow in the flowerbeds. She said nothing to anyone until much later ....

Just after our morning "together" lessons, I returned to my desk to retrieve a book, and I found this .... (above)

Isn't it lovely ?!?!? (And isn't she sweet !! She said she wanted it to be a surprise because she knew it would make me smile, so she picked it and put it on my desk when no one was looking. Awwwwww ........)
