GIVE A GIRL A FISH --
FEED HER FOR A DAY.
GIVE A GIRL A FISHING ROD --
TEACH THE GIRL TO FISH --
FEED HER FOR A LIFETIME.
My mother bought each of our 6 Cherubs a new fishing pole when we visited for the July 4th weekend. And ever since, fishing has been ALL THE RAGE here at Beck's Bounty.
Patience is not a family strength, so some of the Cherubs fish more often than others, and spend the time fishing rather than casting over and over and over again. (HA !)
And the House Rule is ... if you catch it / hunt it / kill it ... you must eat it.
Cherub 2 caught two beautiful Bluegills on Monday evening.
So our family friend Mr. L came yesterday to teach Cherub 2 how to clean, filet, and cook her Bluegills.
And everyone agreed that the Bluegill filets were delicious -- except MomToCherubs who stood nearly pinching her nose the whole time because I do NOT like fish, nor the smell of fish being cleaned or cooked -- Ewwwwwwwwwww.
The Cherubs have a new hobby --- and Cherub 2 is probably well on her way to being a good Southern wife someday now that she can catch, clean, prepare, and cook the "Catch of the Day". (And she is a pretty good shot with a rifle too ! HA !)
